Veteran DJ Tony Blackburn, the Controller of BBC Radio 2 Bob Shennan, BBC Weather Presenter Carol Kirkwood, and TV Dr Chris Steele are among the judges revealed for this year's National Hospital Radio Awards.

They're among thirty judges named for the ten categories for this year's competition, open to HBA members stations across the UK.

Other judges include Sky Radio News Editor Andy Ivy, Devaweb's Chris Stevens, BBC One announcer Duncan Newmarch, and former Radio Caroline DJ Paul Tilley along with a host of other radio professionals plus - for the first time this year - both a Health Minister and Shadow Health Minister and a prominent member of the General Medical Council.

I'm delighted at the breadth of judges we have this year. It means the volunteers, putting their entries forward, will be heard - and judged - by among the best in the business. Hospital Radio is about far more than just radio presenting though, and I'm delighted that those involved with health are also playing a part this year - bringing something different to the judging process.

Entries for this year's competition must be in by Saturday December 12th. A shortlist of nominees will be revealed in early February with the winners announced at the awards ceremony - part of the Hospital Broadcasting Association's Annual Conference and AGM - taking place on Saturday March 27th at the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew near Glasgow.
