Radio Hospitals Blackburn is sad to announce, after 55 years of volunteering, Barry Illsley has passed away.
Starting in 1962 as a presenter, in 1965 he went on to providing commentary for Blackburn Rovers home games. He has covered most home games for over 50 years as well as other rolls within the radio station and was well known at the football ground amongst staff and fellow reporters in the press office.
The photo is of Barry receiving a custom shirt in 2014 for his 50 years commentary from the then manager Gary Bowyer.
Afterwards the shirt was signed by the players old and new.
Also in the photo, on the left is RHB Sports co-ordinator Stuart Wearden and on the right is our Chairman Dave Peacock.
Our condolences go out to his family and all who knew him.
