The Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) are pleased to announce another collaboration with Bauer Radio.

Following the success of Absolute Radio 40s: VE Day, which was also shared and broadcast on hospital radio stations across the UK, Bauer Radio has reached out again to the HBA to make available a series of programmes to its member stations, who are still continuing to provide a vital and important service for patients, hospital staff and wider communities during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Programmes come from Absolute Radio, KISS, Scala Radio, Jazz FM and Planet Rock. They include Absolute Radio’s Jason Manford show to My Planet Rocks, Kisstory shows, Sunday night Scala on the podium and Marcus Brigstocke’s Jazz Family Tree. Stations will have an array of topics to choose from to help fill gaps in schedules caused by COVID-19, at a time where many stations are relying on pre-produced content to keep patients entertained.

Paul Sylvester, Absolute Radio’s Content Director commented: “I was overwhelmed with the response from our sharing of the Absolute Radio 40s content and the struggles that some stations are going through, in a drive to keep broadcasting. As someone who knows how important Hospital Radio is,
I’m delighted that, along with my colleagues at Bauer Radio, we’re able to continue to support the HBA, its stations and the invaluable work they do.”

Ian Pinnell, Communications Executive at HBA said: ‘We’re grateful to the Bauer Radio team for their continued support to the Hospital Broadcasting Association and our member stations. The VE Day programme was a huge hit and the offer of these documentaries will really help our stations in this current climate offer something new to listeners in hospitals and communities, whilst ensuring schedules are filled”.

Some HBA Member stations have been broadcasting remotely from home and some stations are slowly beginning to open up their studios based on Government advice. The organisation has offered support for stations since the pandemic began, with fortnightly open forum video conferences; links to PSA’s, as well as offering general support and guidance to enable stations are able to continue broadcasting, even in some cases, a limited capacity.
