In what was to be her last Honours List, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II invested Chichester Hospital Radio with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This is the highest honour a voluntary group can achieve – equivalent to an MBE.
The station celebrated it’s 50th Birthday on September 22nd 2022, where the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, Lady Emma Barnard presented Chairman Pete Crew with the trophy, along with the certification signed by Her Majesty.
The ceremony was held in the Mayor’s Parlour in the Assembly Rooms, Chichester and was attended by many members past and present.
Lady Emma was full of praise of the work of Chichester Hospital Radio and made a point of talking to everyone to find out more about what the station does and their service. She was keen to see the studios and get involved herself.
She was invited to take part in a programme which she eagerly agreed to. She will appear on the lead up to the Coronation of King Charles when she will select the music and talk about her role.
