Impact Report

In 2016, the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) commissioned Dr. Jenny Thomas and Steve Coles to conduct a comprehensive impact study on hospital broadcasting. This UK-wide study involved over 250 participants, including patients, hospital staff, and radio volunteers, to assess the effects of hospital radio on patients’ health outcomes.

Key findings revealed that hospital radio significantly reduces boredom, loneliness, and anxiety among patients, enhances their sense of belonging, and makes them feel like individuals. It also raises health and wellbeing awareness. The report highlights the potential social value hospital radio generates and offers recommendations for enhancing its impact through awareness and partnerships.
