Winchester Radio Trustee Ian Kemp has twice been honoured for his volunteering and commitment, in this year’s Mayor of Winchester’s Community Awards.
These annual awards are organised by Winchester City Council to recognise and celebrate the local organisations and individuals who give outstanding service to the people and places of the Winchester District.
Ian was nominated for a community award by his employer at Worthy Down, in recognition for the time and commitment Ian gives as a volunteer to local charity, Winchester Radio. Ian has volunteered at the hospital radio service for 11 years, in a variety of roles: visiting patients on the wards, presenting programmes, fundraising, and as a trustee for the charity.
Around 70 individuals and groups were honoured at this year’s Awards, each receiving a Certificate of Appreciation for their contribution to the local community. Additionally, 10 of these people received a Special Mayor’s Award at the ceremony, which took place at Winchester Guildhall.
Ian was one of the 10 individuals who was presented with both a Community Award and a Special Mayor’s Award, from current Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Angela Clear for his outstanding commitment.
