Over the years Mid Downs Radio (MDR) based in the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath has organised different fund-raising events which have involved current and past MDR presenters, friends and family performing  in ‘song and dance’ shows live on stage.

In recent years, the shows have been produced and directed by Poppa Roy Randall, one of our presenters with considerable experience in song and dance and a great showman himself.

Along with his wife and stage manager, Robbie, daughter Pippa and granddaughters Tia and fellow presenter Luci,  Roy recruited other presenters and MDR’s technical manager who became part of  a small band of dedicated performers and backstage support appropriately named The Poppa Roy Players.

This year they took inspiration from Broadway and ‘Musicals of Broadway’ hit the stage at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath on 29th November with a full house on 30th November performing to an appreciative audience drawn from hospital staff, locals and fans.

The show featured 26 songs from  known shows ranging from Oklahoma, Tommy, Sweet Charity, Les Misérables, Swan Lake, South Pacific,  King& I, Guys&Dolls, Evita, Chicago, and raised over £1030 for MDR.
