Sunday 3rd December was very special for one volunteer at Radio Brockley.

Here, Keith Reeve chats exclusively with the HBA and explains why he is so passionate about volunteering and hospital radio.

It’s not every day you receive a presentation from the Mayor of Harrow, Margaret Davine, the President Of the Hospital Broadcasting Association, June Snowden, letters of congratulations from Bob Blackman MP, Sadiq Khan (Mayor Of London), James Purnell (Director Of Radio & Education at the BBC), Lee Hoos (CEO of QPR FC), a chance to speak live to ‘Diddy’ David Hamilton (veteran DJ), telephone or recorded messages from pirate radio legend the Emperor Rosko, current members Daniel Edward, Sue Weston, Ron Laver, Garry Carter, RNOH CEO Rob Hurd, RNOH Chairman Tony Goldstone, the Hall family, Clive Anderson (radio & TV personality).

As well as live chats with many of the people I’ve met and worked with during my time at Radio Brockley, received a signed book from Adam Hart-Davis, and a nice trophy for my cabinet. I hope I've not left anyone out!

Hospital radio means a lot to me, I’ve made great friends, met wonderful people, learnt a lot, hopefully used my skills for the benefit of all, and generally had a wonderful time. Volunteering is not all about giving, you get back too, in a way which makes you feel good. A huge thank you to the many people who made the day so special, and a surprise. I know a few of those involved were Eric Hall, Alan & Emma Joyce, David Rauch and many, many more.

Thank you all, I’m very touched!

The HBA wishes to send its congratulations to Keith on his outstanding contributions and service to hospital radio.
