In light of the recent COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the Trustees of Radio Horton agreed to make a generous donation of £150 to the Oxford Hospitals Charity, which is supporting staff at the Horton General Hospital including those who are working in areas directly impacted by the coronavirus.

Radio Horton Chairman, Anthony BrownIn a letter sent to the Oxford Hospitals Charity, on behalf of the Radio Horton Committee, Chairman, Anthony Brown wrote: “We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for the incredibly hard work that you and your team have undertaken in the midst of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and recognise the invaluable support that Hospital Charity is providing to Doctors, Nurses, Clinicians, clerical staff, cleaners, porters, admin staff and all at the Horton General Hospital and the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.”

The Banbury-based hospital, health and wellbeing radio station, which is now in its fifty-sixth year of broadcasting wanted to show solidarity with its colleagues who have been working hard to care for and look after patients.

“As a charity ourselves, based within the Horton General Hospital, we appreciate the challenges involved with fundraising and wanted to acknowledge our full support to you through this global pandemic and to show that we stand shoulder to shoulder with everybody working in our hospitals during these difficult and unprecedented times.”, the letter continued.

“It is hoped that our contribution will assist in providing vital access for our hospital staff to support, goods and/or services that they may need and we offer our heartfelt thanks for your incredible work, it really is very much appreciated.”

Meanwhile, the hospital radio station has suspended all of its activities from within the Horton General Hospital including ward visiting and live programming but is continuing to broadcast some live or pre-recorded programmes where presenters have the facilities to do so at home.

Radio Horton is broadcasting and sharing key information from the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to patients, showcasing some local initiatives in the community which have a health and wellbeing focus, in addition to supporting & promoting the invaluable work of the Oxford Hospitals Charity.
