The Hospital Broadcasting Association’s Station of the Year, Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd is a finalist in the annual national Community Radio Awards.

The station has made the shortlist, which was whittled down from nearly 400 entries submitted across all the categories by stations from every corner of the UK.

Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd, who was recently named the UK’s ‘Hospital Radio Station of the Year 2022’ by the Hospital Broadcasting Association has picked up a nomination in the ‘Digital or RSL Station Of The Year 2022’ category for their work in serving the patients of Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor and the wider community. This is the third consecutive year that the station has been nominated for this national award.

The winners will be revealed in a ceremony in Bedford on the 19th of November. The evening event will follow the Community Radio Conference organised by the UK Community Radio Network.

Kevin Williams, Chairman, said:

We are all delighted to have been shortlisted in the top five radio stations across the UK for the ‘Digital or RSL Station of the Year 2022’ award in the prestigious Community Radio Awards 2022. To receive this national recognition for the third consecutive year is absolutely fantastic. We are continually developing as a station – with regular training, as well as continuing to recruit a lot of new presenters and famous faces and developing our programming schedule. Having recently been awarded ‘Hospital Radio Station of the Year 2022’ by the Hospital Broadcasting Association, Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd has received wonderful positive feedback from professional judges, which is evident to how professional and appealing our content is to the patients of Ysbyty Gwynedd and our wider community”

Martin Steers, Awards Chair, said:

“It’s been another great year for Community Radio across the UK, entertaining, informing, and engaging local communities, the true purpose of local radio stations. As ever it’s been a big challenge for our judges from across the industry as the quality of entries is better than ever, a real testament to all that Community Radio stations do in their areas. We wish Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd good luck and can’t wait to host the ceremony in Bedford next month.”

Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd has been broadcasting since 1976 and celebrated its 45th year last year.
