Richard Smith, best known for the A to Z of Pop series, has announced plans for the Big Broadcast 2017. For the May bank holiday weekend (29th April-1st May), Richard will be hosting another marathon programme relayed to hospital radio stations via an internet stream from his home studio in Lancashire, along with his intrepid team of Ruth Stapleton, Oliver Stables, Jonathan Sawyer and Matthew Rolland.

You will need to be able to connect your desk to an internet stream for the duration of The BIG Broadcast.

Don’t worry if you think this may be a problem as Richard has people on hand to help out with any technical issues that may arise – including those surrounding the NHS intranet! The stream will be thoroughly tested beforehand so you’ll be able to judge the quality of that audio feed.

The Big Broadcast website has all the details on how to connect to the show, as well as updates as to what you can expect from next years extravaganza, which, so far includes live performances, celebrity interviews, features, quizzes and competitions, requests and dedications, a national game of ward bingo, The Big Broadcast ‘flat choir’ as well as the best music and entertainment.

The Big Broadcast is available to any Hospital Radio Station in the UK so why not join in with the other 20-plus stations that have already ‘signed up’ to receive the show and make The Big Broadcast 2017 a really special one for your station and your listeners!
