As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re highlighting the work of our member stations and their volunteers. 

Our member stations don’t just provide entertainment and support for those in hospital. Many now broadcast programmes within their community, to care-homes and other health settings. Some stations also support local health causes too, as highlighted below.

 

Radio Horton Extends service to local hospice

The team at Radio Horton extended their broadcasting service to a local hospice that provides palliative care to adults with life limiting conditions across North Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire.

New soundtrack for MRI patients in Bedford

There’s a welcome distraction for patients having MRI scans in Bedford as the team at Hospital Radio Bedford have produced a series of half-hour music ‘shows’ for people to hear whilst undergoing these tests.

BHBN Offers internet radios to Care Homes

The team at Birmingham’s BHBN extended their broadcasting into care homes during the Coronavirus pandemic after the hospitals turned down the offer of interent radio’s due to infection control.

Tablets keep patients connected in Kendal

A project by HBA Member station Bay Trust Radio ensured patients in Kendal were able to keep connected during the pandemic. Not only being another way to listen to the radio station, the tablets also include video chat apps and a patient portal designed by the charity, allowing patients to get important information, news and wellbeing information.
