Torbay Hospital Radio has unveiled new plaques to commemorate the names of their station and studios. These have been named in honour of dedicated volunteers who the station has sadly lost. Their contributions to the charity were so valuable that the station wanted to make sure their efforts are not forgotten.

The Reynolds Studios
In 2020, after Torbay Hospital Radio’s refit, the station named their studios “The Reynolds Studios” in memory of two long serving members of Torbay Hospital Radio; Ron and Katie Reynolds, Husband and Wife duo, were the station’s dearest colleagues and friends who dedicated many years of their life towards the station and it truly would not be where it is today without the hard work, dedication and support that both Ron and Katie gave towards Torbay Hospital Radio.

The naming of the studios will ensure that the station will always remember the amazing work they both provided to Torbay Hospital Radio and their legacy lives on for many more years to come. Ron was the station’s longest ever serving member of 37 years of service with Torbay Hospital Radio who sadly passed away on 13th August 2019. They will both be forever missed by the entire team at Torbay Hospital Radio.

The Andrew Millar Studio

Andrew Millar was a massive part of Torbay Hospital Radio and the wider community in his years as a volunteer. His incredible humour, dedication, ideas, fundraising efforts and support, plus his award-winning entertaining shows made him a very special part of our charity.

He started out as a co-host on the Thursday evening show with Geoff, Leanne and former member “Sportsguy”. From Christmas karaoke, funny banter, bake-offs and more – this was a show that our listeners loved to tune into. From there, Andrew moved to his own slot with a very popular weekend morning breakfast show. There he engaged listeners with regular interviews with Westcountry Wasps, uplifting music and more. It was one of our most popular shows with the most engagement from listeners.

Andrew is thoroughly missed by all the team. Since Andrew’s passing, Westcountry Wasps honoured Andrew by including one of his well-known quotes, as well as the logos of a couple of the charities he loved on their new kit – Torbay Hospital Radio being one of them.
